Trekking in Männlichen and a Taste of European Summer

I was finally able to revisit the European region for the second time around. It was one of the most exciting adventures that I had in the first half of this year knowing that I would be able to experience a little bit of spring and more of summer season in the grandest adventure of my life so far. It was such a nice trip because I was able to visit a total of eight countries in 84 days. It was a fulfilling journey. As I always say, traveling is not a competition, it’s a personal journey.

I was finally in Munich on the 16th of April. Pretty much it was my home base in Europe because my best friend lives there. It was such a nice point A to reach point B because it was near to countries which I wanted to visit for my April to July Eurotrip.

Here’s a summary of my whole trip:

Germany

Munich

I love this city so much because it is surrounded by good landscape. I did enjoy so much time at Isar River. I even tried swimming despite the cold temperature because I wanted to experience a cold plunge in Europe.

Berlin

Visiting the capital city of Germany was a dream come true. I was very happy to be able to finally step foot on the city that I wanted to experience the vibe in general.

Regensburg

The color and the artsy buildings made me fall in love with this city. I could imagine myself revisiting the city to make new memories. One of the reasons why I was able to visit here because I have a classmate from middle school who moved to a town near the city so we had a little reunion there and met halfway.

Ulm

I was invited by my high school friend who lived 30 minutes away from Ulm and surprisingly I felt very connected with the city because of the unexplainable warmth that I felt.

Czech Republic

It was my first solo adventure for the whole trip and my first hostel experience in Europe. I must say I was in awe with all the beautiful things that I have seen. The city in general was very romantic for me. I met some Filipinos there and they insisted that if I have loved the city then I must see Budapest, Hungary.

Italy

I was able to travel to the northern Italy. I visited Verona, Bologna, Lake Como, and Milan. It was a good trip overall because I traveled with my best friend for almost 10 days. We enjoyed the food and the view of course.

Austria

It was a spontaneous trip actually I did not plan to visit Austria but some things happened so I book my bus very last minute and came to Vienna without any idea what the city has to offer. Then I met someone who told me that Pride was going to happen so I extended my stay there and really enjoyed my time.

Hungary

Magical! That’s all I can say. It was one of the best cities in Europe for me especially during the night time. The new friends I met in Prague who said. I would love Budapest more was right. It felt like the city was very beautiful from day to night.

Croatia

I stayed in Zagreb for my trip and really witnessed how Europeans celebrate the Eurocup. It was a huge celebration. There were so many fans watching the game in public viewing areas and I haven’t seen that anywhere in my home country.

Slovenia

After my trip to Zagreb, I took a bus trip heading to Slovenia and oh boy I was amazed. The city made me want to move there. It was underrated actually. At some point, I wanted to stay longer but I had to pack my bags to head back to Munich to be reunited with some old friends and to celebrate Munich Pride.

Switzerland

The last country that I visited was Switzerland. I used to work in a hotel and then I made a friend who used to be an intern. I was in Munich and he knew that it’s near Zurich so he invited me to visit his city and stay for free at their flat together with his family.

It was the most adventurous trip that I did because we had to trek a lot. I visited Lauterbrunnen and hiked to Mannlichen after the cable car ride. I was happy that I was able to carry on because it was part of the Swiss Alps. It was really beautiful. I was also able to visit Luzern and Lugano too.

I’m forever grateful for the experience because I will never be 31 again.

In general, when I visited Europe I was delighted to experience a lot of stuff. I ate a lot of new cuisine. Although I was happy, there were days where in I felt a little bit lonely because I was traveling alone and was adjusting to a lot of things such as the weather, the people, the transport system. It was also the longest trip in my history book as a traveler.
