I met two Filipino nurses from the UK who were on a quick trip to Prague. They invited me to join them to see one of the famous attractions there. They paid for the Uber. I insisted on paying my share but they said it was on them. They also paid for my dinner.
In a hostel in Croatia, I met three Filipinos who are working in Malta and they invited me to hang out with them. They were on a group adventure but they would always invite me to join them for breakfast and dinner.
In Zagreb, a Filipino working at a convenience store did not let me pay for the bag for my grocery items. She said it was on her.
I wasn’t able to finish my food. So I asked the staff to pack it for me. This Filipino guy told me he added more fries to my takeout.
In Munich, I met Filipinos who would offer to pay for my beer/drinks. I now call them my friends.
I stayed at a hostel in Budapest and met 3 Filipinos from the Czech Republic, Denmark, and Italy. We decided to have drinks at a local bar. We had a night full of laughter.
I did not meet Filipino travelers who flew from the Philippines like me instead I met amazing Filipinos living and working in Europe.
I’m forever grateful. There were days when I felt lonely and homesick but meeting those Filipinos made me feel at home.
Daghang salamat! ❤️
